New World Quietly Made Its Endgame Harder

New Worlds, developed by Amazon game studio, recently received the Into the Void update, bringing a host of new content as well as features to the game. What players didn’t expect, however, was an secret adjustment to the strength of existing high level enemies to increase the game’s endgame difficulty.

After the update went live, many level 60 players found themselves having to spend more time dealing with battles against endgame POIs, and even some players were no longer able to crush certain enemies. These difficulty adjustments were not included in the ‘Into the Void’ update notes, but news of the official secret change to the game’s endgame difficulty quickly spread throughout the New World player community. Some angry players started heading to the Steam shop to give the game bad reviews, and the game’s recent reviews have now gone from ‘mostly positive’ to ‘mixed’.

The develop team then released a ‘developer blog’ admitting that they had upped the game’s difficulty: We recently adjusted the difficulty of the Elite POIs in the game, and we were well aware of why we made these changes to the content, but didn’t find the right time to explain them to players. Our goal is to have players travel to various places to explore, find materials and craft equipment. “With new weapons and equipment, we want players to enjoy challenging content.

The blog also mentions that the production team is taking the balance of the endgame content seriously and that they are currently tweaking the drop rate of elite POI items so that upping the difficulty of the game is worth it. They also have a lot of new content coming to the game, such as a five-player dungeon, which will be live in the coming months.
